A letter from the candidate
I am Representative Joe Patton and I am running for the Kansas Senate.
The challenges facing our state and nation are huge. The problems have been building for years but, unfortunately, time and again many elected officials have kicked the can down the road, failing to deal with these problems honestly and forthrightly, and ducking the responsibility that comes with their offices. Too many have prioritized their political fortunes over doing the heavy lifting and problem solving that is the hallmark of true leadership.
I’ve been taking on tough issues since I first stepped foot in the Kansas House of Representatives. I do not believe we can tax and spend our way to prosperity. I believe you are taxed enough already. I have crafted several common-sense solutions to problems that threatened our state and community. I have consistently voted against job-killing tax increases, earning me high marks from the Kansas Taxpayers Network, causing Americans for Prosperity to name me a “Champion of the Taxpayer” and leading the Kansas Chamber of Commerce to put me on their “pro-jobs legislator” list.
Now it’s time to take this fight for traditional, common-sense values to the Kansas Senate. Job killing tax and spend policies – many originating in the Kansas Senate — have gripped this state for the past two decades, killing jobs and economic growth. Common sense solutions and doing what is best for Kansans has too often taken a back seat to political pettiness.
